Patient Flu Shot FAQ

Who is eligible to receive the influenza (flu) vaccine?

All individuals 9 years and older. If you are pregnant, not feeling well, or have had prior problems with the flu vaccine, please check with your physician prior to receiving a shot. We will not administer the vaccine to individuals who have an allergy to eggs or chicken products, mercury, or a history of Guillain-Barre.

Click here for cost information or call (208) 378-4584.

Will insurance/Medicare be billed?

We accept Medicare. Payment is required at the time of service. Blue Cross is accepted but you will be required to provide your health insurance information and pay for the vaccination at the clinic. We will submit a roster bill (claim) to the insurance plan on your behalf.

Do you offer the pneumonia vaccine and who should get it?

Yes, we offer the pneumonia vaccine wherever we are administering flu shots. View clinics and locations. The shot is good for 5 years. Both influenza and pneumonia vaccinations may be administered simultaneously, one in each arm. Those individuals at highest risk for contracting pneumonia are highly recommended to receive a pneumonia shot. Anyone may receive a pneumonia shot. Those groups at highest risk include:

Do you offer FluMist® or thimerisol-free vaccine?

We do not keep FluMist® on hand. We do offer thimerisol-free (mercury-free) vaccine in the form of a shot for an additional cost of $10 per shot.

The H1N1 vaccine will be included in the 2011-2012 seasonal flu vaccine along with 2 other strains as recommended and approved by the FDA:

What side effects could occur?

Soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given, low-grade fever and aches may occur. If these problems occur, they begin soon after the shot and usually last one to two days. Life-threatening allergic reactions are very rare. Signs of serious allergic reaction can include breathing problems, hoarseness or wheezing, hives, paleness, weakness, a fast heartbeat or dizziness. If they do occur, it is within a few minutes to a few hours after the shot. These reactions are more likely to occur among individuals with severe allergy to eggs, because the viruses used in the influenza vaccine are grown in hen's eggs.

What is Guillain-Barre Syndrome?

Normally, about one person per 100,000 people per year will develop Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), an illness characterized by fever, nerve damage and muscle weakness. In 1976, vaccination with the swine flu vaccine was associated with getting GBS. Several studies have been done to evaluate if other flu vaccines since 1976 were associated with GBS. Only one of the studies showed an association. That study suggested that one person out of 1 million vaccinated persons may be at risk of GBS associated with the vaccine.

Where can I obtain more information about the flu vaccine?

Corporate Flu Shot FAQ

Who is FluShot4you and Idaho Health Screenings & Vaccinations?

FluShot4you is a subsidiary of NW Health & OsteoScreening and has administered on-site flu/pneumonia shot clinics since 2001. We are a local corporation and have partnered with various companies, health agencies and retail pharmacies to offer our services.

Our newest company, Idaho Health Screenings & Vaccinations (IHSV), has partnered with Mountain View Hospital to provide flu/pneumonia shot and health screening clinics. The partnership has allowed us to bill qualified insurance plans with no co-pay or deductible for the employee.

We are able to offer competitive pricing through the buying power of our partner, Mountain View Hospital. Because we are an independent corporation, we are able to reserve flu vaccine for our priority clients, of which your company would be given this priority. We have administered shots to 100% of our scheduled clients on their set flu shot clinic dates in ALL years, even with past flu shot shortages.

Is Insurance Accepted?

We accept most insurance plans for corporations. There will be no co-pay or deductible for the employee on qualified plans. If you are interested in this option for your company, we will need to verify benefits for at least one employee prior to your flu shot clinic. Patient must present photo ID and insurance card at time of service. Please provide the following information for EACH type of billed insurance plan:

  1. Insurance plan and type (i.e. Blue Cross PPO)
  2. Insurance company phone number for Provider Line (located on back of insurance card)
  3. Employee name
  4. Employee date of birth
  5. Employee member #

How are shots priced?

For company paid clinics, our pricing is structured by cost per shot, tiered by the number of shots per location for clinics in the Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell areas. In other words, we charge one fee which includes nursing and coordinator time/expenses. For locations outside of Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell, we also charge by shot volumes; however, we include a flat fee travel cost in addition. You will be billed only for shots administered and travel costs where applicable. Payment is due once clinics are complete (net 20 days).

For clinics that have qualified insurance plans, pricing is determined upon each type of insurance plan.

How is vaccine guaranteed?

As in prior years, 100 % of our vaccine is pre-booked and is scheduled to arrive by September 15th, 2011, so we will have your vaccine in hand by this date and will reserve it specifically for your company. Our corporate clients are our PRIORITY CUSTOMERS.

When can clinics be scheduled?

We typically book our corporate clinics beginning late September and continue through the first week of December. We administer clinics 7 days a week and can accommodate almost any time of day.

What is the minimum to have an onsite flu shot clinic?
